Today’s challenge might seem a little difficult for some of you. I encourage you to embrace the challenge and see what you come up with.

Take a faceless self portrait.

Here are some ideas to help you get started:
Your hands
Your feet
Your butt LOL
A shape you make with your hands like a heart
A memorable scar
Your hairdo
Your ear

Good luck!

Alright scrapbooking friends…a little challenge to help take your mind off of the photo challenges and onto your FAVORITE past-time! Gather up some photos and make a layout. This sketch is very inspiring…and don’t let it make you feel like you can’t accomplish it just because your photos don’t match. Sometimes, you just have to use the foundation for the layout and make your photos fit it. Go for it!  I LOVE the banner on this LO and the scalloped edges and circles along the bottom.  After I finish the LO I started on New Year’s I will work on a LO using this sketch and upload for you all.  I hope to see what you do with this layout sketch too!

Finally I have uploaded my pics from this week’s photo challenges. I really had a LOT of FUN taking these pics. However, I wasn’t so good at taking a pic each day. But hey…at least I did all the challenges right??
Here they all are:

Day 1 SELF PORTRAIT

Now the funny thing is that I dressed up for my self-portrait as I didn’t feel like going anywhere that day.  So…I thought I’d share what I REALLY did that day and a pic of what I really looked like that day and what I LOVE to do the MOST!

DAY 2  WHAT I WORE

This challenge was a little tough for me as the day the challenge occurred, I had to work.  I didn’t feel much like taking a pic of my uniform because well, it’s just plain boring.  And…I’ve taken pics of my uniform before for a special reason.  So…I decided to take a photo of the outfit I wore on New Year’s Eve.  I felt so good wearing this outfit that day.  It made me feel so good about myself and I felt like a fashion diva.

DAY 3  CLOUDS

I enjoyed taking this photo.  It wasn’t a really cloudy day when I took it, so I had to keep going outside to see if there were some interesting clouds to take a photo of.  Finally I got my chance.  This was taken from my mother’s backyard.  Quite lovely I must say.

DAY 4  FAVORITE COLOR

I just LOVE the color TEAL and what better place to find things in the color I love than Pier 1 Imports.  I love how the TEAL pops out of the brown on the first pillow.  The second pillow doesn’t have as much teal, but I just couldn’t resist the paisleys.  I don’t know why, but I’m drawn to them like crazy!  Must be from the era I was born in.  LOL

DAY 5  SOMEONE I LOVE

Well I wanted to capture a photo of the ones I love for this challenge.  Since I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to use the most, I decided to set up two different photo shoots.  These 3 men are the most important in my life so I HAD to get a photo of all 3 of them.  And I couldn’t miss out on focusing on the most important man in my life.  Don’t you just LOVE the expression on his face!

DAY 6  CHILDHOOD MEMORY

I wanted to take a photo of the music box I blogged about earlier, but I couldn’t find it.  I think it got buried in the Christmas stuff and will not be found for another season.  So…here is the photo I chose to take instead.  My uncle Gunter from Germany worked at a pewter factory and always sent us little figurines.  My mom had them displayed for many years and when I moved out, she gave me a collection of them.  These little kitties are my favorite.  I just love how playful they are.

DAY 7  SOMETHING NEW

I went to Charming Charlie’s for the first time with my BFF Kathie on Thursday.  I found some KILLER deals and managed to get out of there spending less than $20.  One of my FAVE goodies that I bought were these owl earrings.  I was thrilled about the McQueen Blue color and the face that they were OWLS!  Who could ask for anything better!

Well that’s all for this week!  I hope you all did a FINE job keeping up with the challenges.  If you didn’t, don’t feel bad, catch up today or tomorrow.  Sometimes life gets a little hectic, but you won’t regret taking each one of these photos and remembering something special about them.  YOU CAN DO IT!

Today’s photo challenge is more like an enabler challenge. Take a photo of SOMETHING NEW. If you haven’t gotten anything new recently, this challenge is a reason to treat yourself. I went to Charming Charlie’s for the first time on Thursday and I got the CUTEST pair of earrings. So….my pic will be of those. They are McQueen Blue and the BEST part is that they are handpainted owls!
By the way, keep your eyes peeled for my week’s worth of pics later today. AND…I’m going to post a scrapbooking challenge at the same time. I hope to see you visit my blog later today!

Ready for the next challenge? I am! Today you need to photograph a CHILDHOOD MEMORY. Do you have anything in your possession from your childhood that brings back memories? I have a few precious items that I hold dear. One of my FAVE items is a wind-up music player that is an angel sitting at an organ. It’s old and not so beautiful any longer. But it brings back memories of all my childhood Christmases. It’s been a joy to share with my boys as they have been growing up.

Now I know everyone is anxious to see pictures. Tomorrow morning, I will be uploading as a separate post all the photos from the past week. I look forward to sharing them with you and I will try to include a tutorial for uploading pics so you can share with me, or link back to your own online album or blog.

Well I’ve already slacked off on my challenges. I have a good excuse…work this week was quite long with 12 hour days and with the kids home it was tough to use the computer. No more excuses. LOL
Let’s start with Jan 3 – CLOUDS
We haven’t had a lot of clouds lately, but they’ve been noticeable around sunset and quite beautiful.
Jan 4 – FAVORITE COLOR
I love this challenge! My favorite color is Teal or turquoise. It compliments my olive skin tone and makes me feel good about myself. I took a pic of a pair of my earrings in my favorite color.
Jan 5 – SOMEONE I LOVE
This challenge will be easy. I might try to do something interesting with this challenge today. I think I’ll recruit my sons to help.

Today’s photo challenge is WHAT I WORE. Now you can be creative or literal with this challenge. I chose to be a little creative as I was not too thrilled about taking pics of my uniform. So I put together the outfit I wore on New Year’s Eve. I chose those because it made me feel good and helped me forget how awful work was today.
So….get creative with this challenge, or even be true to yourself.

Ok…so I am posting in FB about how I am doing a 30 day photo challenge for January.  I found a neat challenge online at http://amytangerine.blogspot.com/2011/08/photo-challenge.html and I’m planning on following it.  This also means that I want to blog about each pic a little too.   That way when I make my mini book from the pics, there will be some meaning to it too. So…for this month…you will get a photo challenge each day.  Share your pics here if you like.  I would LOVE to see them!

PHOTO CHALLENGE DAY 1

  • TAKE A SELF PORTRAIT

I didn’t feel like getting myself together much today.  But I managed to take a shower and put on the cute outfit I had on yesterday for our lunch date at Red Lobster and a walk through the Summit Mall.  I put on one of my tried-and-true black hats and my favorite new scarf that I got for Christmas and sat out in front of the fire place.  My husband asked if I was going to use a tripod, but I told him “no”, I’m going to do it as a true self-portrait and do it at arm’s length.  I got some pretty good photos and the funny thing is that my first pic is probably the one I LOVE the most.

New Year…New Me…New Blog Direction January 2, 2012

Filed under: Challenges — sierrascrapper @ 1:18 am

So a lot has changed in the past year.  My dearly beloved LSS closed it’s doors after 10 years of business.  This was a place I had shared many memories with and spent many hours creating, laughing and perusing the wonderful products in the world of scrapbooks.  This transition away from Treasured Memories has left a hole in my heart and it’s been difficult to get back on the creative scrapbooking track.

Many of the friends I have made close friendships with over the years are still there for me.  We have formed a bond that will never be broken.  One of the projects I tried to do at my LSS was to host a page-a-week online scrapbook group similar to the one that I have been a part of for the last 10 years.  I’ve always had such a great experience with my group and I wanted to translate the local group into a way to keep us inspired.  Well…now that the store is gone, it’s hard to keep in contact with some of my friends.  I’ve heard from a few of my close friends that they wish we had a group like the one we started.

With that…I decided for this new year I am going to try to put together a challenge blog and try to motivate you and all my friends to get more scrapbooking done and to be more creative.  Here are some of my goals:

  • Put out a creative challenge once a week
  • Put up a photography challenge once a week
  • Put up a digi challenge once a month
  • Put up an organizing challenge once a month
  • Put up a color scheme challenge once a month
  • Put up a sketch or two once a month

With all this, I hope to inspire my friends, and keep a camraderie and help motivate those of you out in the world wide web.  I can’t say I’m the best blogger, or the best at keeping up with deadlines, but I am hoping that this year will bring new motivation.  Who knows, this might be so much fun that we can take things even farther.  I would love to host an online crop in the future and all kinds of fun things.  I will even try to keep you up to date on FUN blog hops and creative things I find on the internet.  There is so much to see and scraplift!

HAPPY CREATING IN 2012!
